Oak Creek, Wis — June 19, 2025 — Oak Creek’s water is second to none, and we have the awards to prove it!
Earlier this month, the Oak Creek Water and Sewer Utility received the 10-year President's Award from the Partnership for Safe Water for its treatment plant.
The partnership is made up of seven prestigious drinking water organizations. Its goal is to enhance drinking water quality by optimizing the performance of water treatment plants and distribution systems.
“Cities that participate like Oak Creek are held to standards that are 10 times more stringent than the general standards,” said Michael Sullivan, General Manager of the Oak Creek Water and Sewer Utility.
Participation in the Partnership for Safe Water is completely voluntary, and Oak Creek has been a member since 1995. And Oak Creek was just one of eleven utilities nationwide to receive the 10-year President’s Award.
“That’s pretty remarkable because it shows we’ve been meeting these incredibly high standards for 10 years in a row. Which is no small task. In fact, we have to do a self-assessment, a peer review, and have an action list of ways we can optimize our processes,” said Sullivan.
So, what does it mean for Oak Creek residents? “The water that comes out of your tap is fantastic and the best it can be,” Sullivan explained.
And he added, “It’s a process to receive an award like. It shows we are constantly monitoring Oak Creek’s water and how we treat it. And we’re always looking for ways to make the process better and more efficient.”
