January - May Programs for Children at Oak Creek Public Library
The Oak Creek Public Library is hosting a number of free programs for children, tweens, and teens during the months of January, February, March, April, and May. Some of these programs require registration, and space is limited. Please see below for each program's registration start dates. Then, sign up by visiting the library's events calendar, in person at 8040 S. 6th St., or over the phone by calling 414-766-7900.
Programs for children and tweens include...
Music and Movement
Location: Multi-purpose Room
Mondays, January 5th - March 16th and April 20th -May 11th
6:30 - 7:00 p.m.
This 30-minute Story Time is geared toward children ages 2-5, with an adult (siblings welcome). We'll be incorporating music and movement into all books, songs, and rhymes.
This Story Time will take place in the Multi-purpose Room. Registration is not required.
Baby Story Time
Location: Story Time Room
Tuesdays, January 6th - March 17th and April 21st - May 12th
9:30 - 9:50 a.m. OR 10:30 - 10:50 a.m.
This 15-20-minute Story Time is geared toward children ages birth to 24 months, with an adult (siblings welcome). It features short stories, songs, and lapsit rhymes that foster early literacy.
Each session will take place in the Story Time Room. Please only attend one time slot per day. Registration is not required.
Toddler Story Time
Location: Story Time Room
Wednesdays, January 7th - March 18th and April 22nd -May 13th
9:30 - 9:50 a.m. OR 10:30 - 10:50 a.m.
This 20-minute Story Time is geared toward children ages 2-3, with an adult (siblings welcome). It incorporates stories, songs, and rhymes.
Each session will take place in the Story Time Room. Please only attend one time slot per day. Registration is not required.

Thursdays, January 15th, February 19th, March 19th, April 16th, May 21st
4:00 - 5:00 p.m.
This 15-20 minute story time is geared toward children ages 3-7, with an adult (siblings welcome). It features stories, songs, and rhymes that foster early literacy and will be followed by a craft related to the story. Wear something that can get messy!
Each session will take place in the Story Time Room. Registration is not required.
STEAM Labs
Location: Story Time Toom
Mondays, January 5th, February 2nd, March 2nd, April 6th, May 4th
4:00 - 5:00 p.m.
Work as a team to create, experiment and learn through hands-on activities. These activities include:
- 1/5 - Paper Airplanes
- 2/2 - Slime Time
- 3/2 - Shipwrecks
- 4/6 - Friendly Forensic Science
- 5/4 - Build Your Own Kite
This program is for those in grades 2-5 and will take place in the Story Time Room. Registration for each session is required.
After School Art Club
Location: Story Time Room
Wednesdays, January 14th, February 11th, March 11th, April 8th, May 13th
4:00 - 5:00 p.m.
Bring your imagination and creative thinking skills to our After School Art Club! At each session, you will create a different work of art. Dress for a mess!
This program is for those in grades 2-5 and will take place in the Story Time Room. Registration for each session is required.
Middle School Craft Club
Location: Story Time Room
Mondays, January 19th, February 16th, March 16th, April 20th, May 18th
6:30 - 7:30 p.m.
Join our Middle School Craft Club and do a new project at each session.
This program is for those in grades 6-8 and will take place in the Story Time Room. Registration is required.
Family Fun
Location: Multi-purpose Room
Thursdays, February 5th, March 5th, May 7th
6:30 - 7:30 p.m.
Join us for an afternoon of fun with various stations and hands-on activities for the whole family!
- 2/5 - Polar Games
- 3/5 - Light & Shadow Party
- 5/7 - Eric Carle Party with Stories, Art, and Games
This program is designed for ages 4-11 with an adult (siblings welcome) and will take place in the Multi-purpose Room. Registration is not required.
LEGO® Club
Location: Story Time Room
Tuesdays, January 27th, February 24th, March 24th, April 28th, May 26th
4:00 - 5:00 p.m.
Brick by Brick, we’ll build awesome creations and friendships! Come make your masterpiece.
This program is geared toward children ages 4-11 with an adult (siblings welcome) and will take place in the Story Time Room. Registration is not required.
Child Care & Summer Camp Resource Fair
Location: Multi-purpose Room
Saturday, January 31st
9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Want to learn more about child care and summer camp options? Visit with different child care and summer camp providers to learn more about their offerings and programs at this exciting one-stop shop event!
This program is geared toward parents and families with children ages 0-12. It will take place in the Multi-purpose Room. Registration is not required. Library sponsorship of this event does not constitute an endorsement of the child care & summer camp participants.
No School Day: Bingo!
Location: Story Time Room
Friday, February 27th
10:30 - 11:30 a.m.
Join us for an hour of family-friendly bingo. Have fun and win great prizes!
This program is designed for ages 4-11 with an adult (siblings welcome) and will take place in the Story Time Room. Registration not required.
Spring Break programs include...
Intergenerational Story Time at Oak Park Place
Location: 1980 W Rawson Ave, Oak Creek WI, 53154
Monday, March 30th
10:30 - 11:30 a.m.
Join us at Oak Park Place for a 30-minute Story Time for children of all ages with their caregivers and seniors from the community. It will feature stories and songs followed by a playtime and social for attendees.
Registration is not required.
STEAM Lab: Crystals & Geodes
Location: Story Time Room
Monday, March 30th
2:30 - 3:30 p.m.
Come discover the spectacular world of rocks and minerals during our special Spring Break STEAM lab.
This program is for those in grades 2-5 and will take place in the Story Time Room. Registration is required.
Sensory Play
Location: Story Time Room
Tuesday, March 31st
9:30 - 11:30 a.m.
Come explore the senses with sensory play at the library. We’ll make new brain connections through playing with various objects, igniting the senses of sound, touch, smell, and sight.
This program is geared toward ages 3-5, with an adult (siblings welcome) and will take place in the Story Time Room. Registration is not required.
Open Crafting
Location: Story Time Room
Tuesday, March 31st
2:30 - 3:30 p.m.
We provide the supplies, you bring your imagination.
This family-fun crafting program is geared toward children ages 4-11 with an adult and will take place in the Story Time Room. Registration not required.
Middle School T-Shirt Designs
Location: Story Time Room
Wednesday, April 1st
10:30 - 11:30 a.m.
Create your own t-shirt using stencils, paint, and other craft supplies.
This program is for those in grades 6-8 and will take place in the Story Time Room. Registration is required.
Video Game Club
Location: Story Time Room
Wednesday, April 1st
2:30 - 3:30 p.m.
Are you a fan of video games? Join us for our Video Game Club where we play a video game! We will also have activities relating to popular game characters. The library will provide video games and equipment; please leave yours at home.
This program is for those in grades 2-5 and will take place in the Story Time Room. Registration is required. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Oak Creek Public Library.
Family Food Traditions
Location: Story Time Room
Thursday, April 2nd
10:30 - 11:30 a.m.
Join us for this hour-long story time and activity session where we'll be exploring different family food traditions and recipes. Please plan on wearing something that can get messy and let us know if you have any food allergies when you arrive.
This program is geared toward ages 4-11, with an adult (siblings are welcome) and will take place in the Story Time Room. Registration not required.
