Oak Creek, Wis–April 10, 2026–The Oak Creek Farmers Market is proud to announce a $22,500 commitment from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 494 (IBEW) for the 2026 market season. This sponsorship reinforces a shared mission to ensure everyone in the region has access to fresh, locally grown food.
As a proud sponsor for the past five years, IBEW’s continued support will directly benefit individuals and families facing financial challenges. This includes those living on fixed incomes, working low-wage jobs, navigating job loss, or managing disabilities that limit their ability to work.
“This investment is about more than food. It is about dignity, health, and making sure no one in our community goes hungry,” said Renee Wallace, Oak Creek Farmers Market Operations Manager. “Thanks to IBEW, more families will have access to the bounty of fresh fruits and vegetables grown right here in Wisconsin throughout the spring, summer, and fall.”
In 2026, the Oak Creek Farmers Market will expand its support of Wisconsin’s FoodShare program. Shoppers using SNAP benefits will receive $20 through Milwaukee Market Match. With IBEW’s support, they will also receive an additional $10 in Bonus Bucks, increasing their purchasing power for fresh produce, proteins, dairy, and eggs.
Beginning in mid to late June, when seniors and families start receiving Farmers Market Nutrition Program benefits through WIC and senior programs, IBEW will once again enhance access by providing an extra $20 in Bonus Bucks to shoppers who use those checks at the market.
These combined efforts help stretch food dollars further while supporting local farmers and producers.
In 2025, the Oak Creek Farmers Market served shoppers from 36 different zip codes across the region, demonstrating its growing impact as a regional destination for fresh, affordable food.
“IBEW’s investment ensures that the market remains not only a vibrant community gathering space, but also a critical access point for nutritious food for those who need it most,” said John Jacobs, IBEW 494, Business Manager and Financial Secretary.
The Oak Creek Farmers Market season begins Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Drexel Town Square from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and runs through Saturday, October 24, 2026, featuring more than 120 vendors throughout the season.
