The Current is a joint effort between the City of Oak Creek, the Oak Creek-Franklin Joint School District, and Milwaukee Area Technical College – Oak Creek Campus.

“This is an incredible honor and a validation of all our hard work over the past year to merge two different city magazines into one easy-to-read publication,” said Kelly Shoff, Current Editor and City of Oak Creek Marketing and Communications Manager. “We’ve heard from so many residents about how much they enjoyed the new and improved magazine, and this award is further proof that we’re providing valuable community information in a much more reader-friendly format.”

The Communicator Awards are judged by the Academy of Interactive & Visual Arts, an invitation-only body of more than 1,100 industry leaders from organizations including JPMorgan Chase & Co., FedEx, Netflix, National Geographic Society, and the NAACP. Entries are evaluated on overall quality, creativity, and effectiveness. Award of Excellence winners represent the highest scoring entries in the competition.

For 32 years, The Communicator Awards have recognized standout work across marketing, communication, and creative industries, providing opportunities for organizations of all sizes to be honored on an international stage.
