COVID-19 (Coronavirus) UPDATE • March 20, 2020 •

Status in Wisconsin

  • As of March 20, 2020 of the total individuals tested, 3455 were negative and 206 were positive.
  •  Wisconsin Department of Health Services keeps totals up to date at: http://dhs.wisconsin.gov/outbreaks
  • Governor Evers has:
    • closed schools indefinitely.
    • prohibited gatherings of more than 10 people.
    • restricted bars and restaurants to carry-out and delivery services only. No one may eat or drink in the establishment.
    • restricted the size of all child care settings to 10 staff and fewer than 50 children.
    • ordered hair salons, day spas, nail salons, barber shops, tattoo parlors, body art establishments, and tanning facilities closed effective 5 p.m. on Friday, March 20, 2020.

Status in Oak Creek

  • Five positive case of COVID-19 have been identified in Oak Creek.
  • There is evidence of community spread of COVID-19 in Milwaukee County, meaning individuals who have not traveled or had contact with a confirmed case have tested positive.
  • The Health Department is actively working to reduce the spread of disease in the community.
  • If you are experiencing signs and symptoms of COVID-19, please remain home and call your health care provider.

Practice Everyday Preventative Actions

  • Wash hands frequently with soap and water for 20 seconds. If not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
  • Avoid touching eyes, mouth, and nose with unwashed hands.
  • Avoid close contact with individuals that are sick.
  • STAY HOME when you re sick. Remain at home for 24 hours after you no longer have a fever.
  • Cover your sneeze and cough.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects or surfaces.
  • Avoid gatherings of more than 10 people.
  • Avoid travel to countries and states with sustained community spread of COVID-19.
