COVID-19 Library Closure Information

Post Date:04/28/2020 12:00 PM

Oak Creek Public Library made the difficult decision to close for all service beginning March 14.  We came to this decision, through consultation with our local health department, in an effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19 through our community.  We know you are concerned about items you currently have checked out and items that you have on hold. This is an evolving situation and we are making every effort to address your concerns.

Based on the current Safer at Home order, the library intends to begin offering curbside pick up beginning May 4. Information on how to take advantage of this service will be available on our website and Facebook page on May 4.

  • All Milwaukee County libraries are currently closed.
  • Oak Creek items will not incur fines while the library is closed. All items from Milwaukee County libraries checked out after Feb 21 have been updated with a due date of June 1.
  • Items returned in the book drop will be quarantined for a minimum of 72 hours before being checked in.
  • All patrons accounts set to expire September 2019 or later have been extended to August 31, 2020.
  • Items currently sitting on the Oak Creek Public Library hold shelf will remain available until at least June 6.
  • The Request button has been removed to prevent holds from building on materials and to manage delivery volume.  Delivery system-wide has been suspended until at least June 1st for the safety of our staff, patrons, and communities.
  • The Oak Creek Public Library offers electronic resources you can use from home, including e-books, e-audiobooks and magazines:  If you have forgotten your PIN you can reset it here.

Staff will be monitoring the library’s voicemail, email, and social media accounts and will respond to comments, questions, and concerns as we are able.

We will continue to monitor this situation and provide further information as needed. Thank you for your patience during this time and we look forward to serving you soon.
