Description

Powers and Duties. The Parks and Recreation Commission shall:

        (1)    Advise the responsible management staff in the execution of their parks improvement, maintenance, and joint community recreation platform respon­sibilities.

        (2)    Suggest administrative regulations for the operation of park and recreation facil­ities and programs.

        (3)    Plan a program of capital improvements, and review and recommend parks-related capital expenditures in each annual budget cycle.

        (4)    Make whatever recommendations they may see fit to the Mayor and Council towards the improvement of the opera­tion of park and recreational activities and facilities.

        (5)    Coordinate the various social segments of the community into a unified pattern of activity.

        (6)    Recommend policies for its own guidance and for the administration of joint community recreation platform activ­ities.

        (7)    Advise the Common Council on other matters relating to parks and recreation.

        (8)    Assist the responsible management staff in keeping the general public informed, and for soliciting public input, as to the development of park improvement and joint community recreation platform activi­ties.

        (9)    The Commission shall perform such other duties and assume such other responsibilities as may be assigned to it by the Common Council.
