The City of Oak Creek Clerk’s Office administers elections and voting in the City of Oak Creek, and is charged with ensuring the electoral process is fair, accurate, impartial, open, and in accordance with the laws of the State of Wisconsin.

Local elections include all City of Oak Creek elected officials: the Mayor, six Alderpersons (one for each district), and Municipal Judge. The Mayor is elected to a three-year term. The Municipal Judge is elected to a four-year term and Alderpersons are elected to two-year terms.

To view what candidates are on the ballot (sample ballot), please visit MyVote.  Ballots are available 47 days prior to a federal election and 21 days prior to all other elections.

Spring Primary - Tuesday, February 17 (if needed):  Primary election for races on the April 7 ballot

Spring Election - Tuesday, April 7:  General Election for Supreme Court Justice, Court of Appeals Judge District 1, Circuit Court Judges Branches 2, 7, 16, 27, 29, and 32, Milwaukee County Supervisor District 17, and Oak Creek Alderpersons District 2, 4, and 6. Oak Creek Franklin Joint School District Board Member (2 seats)

Partisan Primary - Tuesday, August 11:  Primary election for races on the November 3 ballot

General Election - Tuesday, November 3:  General Election for Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of State, State Treasurer, Representative in Congress District 1, State Senator District 7, Representative to the Assembly District 21, Milwaukee County Sheriff, and Milwaukee County Clerk of Circuit Court

Voters must vote at their designated polling locations on Election Day. Only Early Voting takes place at Oak Creek City Hall prior to Election Day. Polling locations are open 7:00 am - 8:00 pm on Election Day.

Wisconsin Now Requires a Photo ID to Vote

On Monday, March 23, 2015, the United States Supreme Court issued an order declining to hear an appeal of Wisconsin's voter photo ID law. On advise of the Wisconsin Attorney General, the photo ID law will be enforced for Elections after April 2015.

Oak Creek - Franklin Joint School District

Next School Board Election Date:  April 7, 2026 (two board positions). Please visit the Oak Creek Franklin Joint School District office for more information on running for school board.

Running for Local Office

If you are interested in running for elective office, the first date to circulate papers is December 1 in the year prior to the expiration of the term. The last date to file the nomination papers with the Clerk’s Office is 5:00 p.m. on the first Tuesday in January. You must file the nomination papers in person; they cannot be mailed. Nomination papers are available in the Clerk’s Office.

Candidates may still run as write-in candidates. Write-in paperwork must be filed with the City Clerk by 12:00 pm on Friday, April 3, 2026, to be a registered write-in candidate.

You may also run as an unregistered write-in candidate.

Nomination packets cannot be printed or started until December 1st, 2025.

Individuals interested in running for office may contact City Clerk Catherine A. Roeske. The deadline to file Declaration of Candidacy and Nomination Packets is January 6, 2026.

If you are interested in being a registered write-in candidate, you may pick up a campaign registration statement form in the City Clerk's Office located at City Hall - 8040 S. 6th Street, Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:30 am- 4:00 pm.
