What is Oak Creek Health Department’s role during an emergency?
Public health professionals are trained to help the community prepare for, respond to, and recover from an emergency or disaster in a coordinated manner. Some areas where public health may play an integral role during an emergency situation include sheltering and evacuation, dispensing medication, vaccine, or other medical supplies, and releasing updated guidance and information to the public.
The Health Department is committed to making the Oak Creek community safer and more resilient.
Wisconsin Emergency Assistance Volunteer Registry (WEAVR)
WEAVR is Wisconsin's initiative to pre-register, manage, and mobilize clinical and non-clinical volunteers to help in responding to disasters.
During a disaster or emergency, the Health Department relies on volunteers to assist with emergency response efforts. We ask volunteers to register ahead of time in order to be prepared when an emergency occurs. Training will be provided on-site at the time of the event.
If you are interested in supporting your community, please consider signing up as an emergency preparedness volunteer. You can register through WEAVR at www.weavrwi.org. Please select "Oak Creek Health Department" as your organization during registration.
There are no specific qualifications required to volunteer, but experiences, trainings, or certifications may be required for some roles. Please be prepared to provide proof of these qualifications.
Thank you for your interest in keeping our community safe!
