NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH PROGRAM

Neighborhood Watch is a community-based program designed to involve residents in preventing crime in their community.   By working together, neighbors can help protect homes, property, and one another. The program encourages residents to stay alert, secure their property, and report suspicious activity to local law enforcement.

We need your help to keep your neighborhood safe. Through active participation, you and your neighbors can strengthen the effectiveness of the Oak Creek Police Department and help to reduce crime! Communities that participate often see decreases not only in burglaries, but in many other types of crime as well.

Our Community Resource Bureau provides education on crime prevention, safety awareness, and practical steps you can take to protect your household. Starting a Neighborhood Watch program is a powerful way to build a safer, more connected community.

Dog Walker Watch Program

As part of a Neighborhood Watch program, residents play an important role in helping keep their community safe. Many people are out during the day, walking their dogs, running, or biking and are familiar with what is normal in the area. This awareness can be valuable in identifying and reporting suspicious activity to assist law enforcement.

The Oak Creek Police Department periodically hosts informational meetings focused on building situational awareness and improving observation skills for residents who are regularly out and about in their neighborhood.  These meetings also provide guidance on how to start a Neighborhood Watch program.
