Woodland Golf has earned a quiet reputation as a “hidden gem,” as deemed by locals. Visitors will find a pristine, nine-hole, par 31 course where deer and other wildlife wander past golfers lining up their next shot.
The course's roots in Oak Creek run deep. In 1945, Frank Jandil purchased 20 acres of land along E Elm Rd to raise corn and cattle. Nearly two decades later, in 1963, his brother-in-law suggested he try something different: building a golf course. Frank took on much of the construction himself, using an Allis Chalmers Model B tractor to shape the land. He planted rows of trees throughout the property, inspiring the name Woodland Golf when the course officially opened in 1966.
The course continued to grow with its community. In 1992, the family purchased 13 neighboring acres, expanding the layout with new irrigation, tee boxes, longer fairways, and improved greens. Today, strategically placed sand bunkers, water hazards, and mature trees make for a wooded course that golfers of all skill levels have come to love.
Six weekday leagues keep things lively, while daily open golf welcomes drop-ins any time. Available cart and club rentals and a full bar inside the clubhouse make it easy to play and stay a while. Golfers can also take advantage of a junior or senior discount on weekdays.
Now in its fourth generation of family ownership, Woodland Golf opens for the season around April 1st and closes by Halloween, weather permitting. Through every season, the staff's attention to detail keeps the grounds in top shape; a tradition of care that traces all the way back to Frank's first rows of trees.
Just minutes from Lake Michigan and Drexel Town Square, the course makes an easy addition to your day in Oak Creek. Come discover why locals have kept this gem close to heart for 60 years.
